Buyer beware I bought this product and I have two major problems with it. A It was hard to get it to cooportate with my PC and I never was able to get it to sincup so I could back up my files. and B .IT BROKE FOR NO REASON AFTER ONLY A SHORT TIME AFTER I PURCHASED IT! It was beyond the returnable period so I was stuck with ita device that swallowed up my importand voice files never allowing me to back them up then shut down all together now I'm out the $40 or $50or whatever it was I paid for it.
Mac Owners Beware This recorder is to the best of my experience effective for most applications. It is fairly easy to operate and the slide out USB port is a nice touch. What was not mentioned anywhere in the product listing is that Mac OS is not supported by the device. As a Mac owner I find myself unable to download my files onto the computer which is an issue to be aware of.
Okay purchase I bought this for one project I needed it for in nursing school. I found it pretty easy to use after looking at the instruction book. The only thing I didn't like was the sound. It wasn't very loud.
Died in a drawer I purchased this device for recording counseling session for educational purposes. I worked great the first semester. However after a summer of not being used it won't turn on at all. I have replaced the batteries twice otherwise I'm unsure what the problem could be. Still have to finish my coursework so looking to buy a new recorder and this time I plan to invest in a higher quality product.
Very nice Bought this item over a year ago for my wife so that she may use it during her classes and work meetings. She has not complained about it and to this date she is still using it with no problems. If your looking for something inexpensive this is one item i would recommend. I've owned much better recorders Recording on this is much more complicated than any other recorder I have owned. The user manual is useless. When I record I need it to be easy and fastI don't have time to press multiple buttons.

easy to use! I use this recorder every week to record my clients in speech therapy. It's convenient with a built in USB port so you don't have to install anything on your computer. It's easy enough to work that you don't have to read the instructions although I recommend you test it first to make sure you know how it records before you need to use it. I've dropped it multiple times and it still works great! The only negative is that it's always using the batteries to display the time like a cell phone so the battery life isn't as good as it could be. Good deal for your money though.
Product is ok This voice recorder is pretty easy to use. It's very slim and easy to carry around. Feels a bit plasticy. Playback is ok. I wasn't real impressed with the sound quality. However its very inexpensive and does the job that you need it to do. Overall it isn't a bad item.
Feedback/Interference ruins recordings I have had this recorder for a while. For the most part the recorder works well and is easy to operate. However there is an intermittent problem with this digital recorder where it is prone to picking up feedback or interference in the area. Because there's no way to go back in many cases this is very maddening. I am now looking for another recorder because this recorder cannot be trusted.

Archos Portable Digital Media Player Over rated and not worth it!

half cooked half baked Picked up this discontinued model for under $100. Great looking solid build quality feature laden but only some of it works really well. They highlight this as a WiFi media player only thing is the WiFi is pretty worthless. Pickup of available wifi is weak but the most lamentable thing is the supplied browser Opera which is slower than a snail and hangs up or won't load some pages at all. Even when pages load flash video and Java is not supported so you're miss a lot of content. So if you do a lot of web surfing and looking at this as a travel device for that purpose FORGET IT!Now the goods display is awesome on the 7 screen with 3 different brightness settings. Video on this unit is fantastic you're never go back to using the tinny 4 or less screen video players after this. Likewise photos look great and will serve as a terrific digital picture frame with the ability to play music in the background. With 80 GB storage you have ample room for photos videos music. Transferring of all files from computer to this unit is a snap thru the USB connection and is decently fast too. The Archos is recognized as another external device when connected thru USB.Battery life is about 4.
Great Video Player I have had this Archos Video Player for about 1 month now and am completely happy with it. I have been using DVD decrypter to strip copy protection from DVD's that I own and compressing them with Gordian Knot to about 700 Meg in size in DIVX format. Given the 80GB hard drive installed that equates to over 100 movies on a very nice 7 inch touchscreen display. The sound quality is very good and volume is acceptable for airline or auto use. I also purchased the optional video adapter that lets you view video on TV as well as use the internal hard drive like a digital video recorder DVR both work exceptionally well. I would recommend purchasing a extra battery for it since while using it for video the battery pack only lasts about 4 hours I havent measured the battery life with MP3's. MP3 and WMA playback is very good as well I purchased mainly for video play while traveling. The only drawbacks I have come to find is that the wifi link only works with a unprotected Wireless network and the internet browser that is included is Opera which is sometimes difficult to use for those used to Firefox or Internet Explorer. Other than those two drawbacks this is a fantastic video player that I thoroughly enjoy and find it a much better value that the Creative Vision W or the Apple Ipod. ps.I have now had this player for 3 months and am as still pleased with it as the day I purchased it. I have been reading some complaints that people have been having over the size of it. If you are only looking for a MP3 player this is not the device for you. If you want a device that has a fantastik large 7 inch picture with great sound there is no better device. It does weigh in at about a pound but is much lighter than lugging a laptop around while travelingplus the wireless internet is a godsend on short trips so I can leave that laptop at home. I have had absolutely zero issues with this player and have over 100 high quality movies loaded on the hard drive. The one and only thing I think archos coul dhave improved on is an even larger hard drive option. Other than thatyou cant beat this portable video device..Dont buy and Apple IPOD.
Poor Customer Service and Technical Support Be aware before buying this product that Archos has terrible technical support and customer service. While I originally really liked my Archos because of its big screen it has proved to be a lemon offering repeated problems in terms of battery life and the screen. Customer service has proved non responsive. After a catastrophic failure in June of this year I had to send it in with an RMA. They reported a hard disk failure requested $150+ for repair out of warranty and then returned to me a unit that is still not functional. They have not responded to repeated emails. I strongly suggest reconsideration of Archos for prospective buyers.
Great wow factor! This thing is freaking amazing. The screen is beautiful and every time I whip this thing out on an airplane and cycle through a choice of like 30 movies they want to know where to get one. The battery life is pretty good. The capabilities of this thing are real cool and the touch screen is fantastic. The internet needs a little work. It is a little better than surfing the web on a Sony PSP which isn't very fun. I got the separate DVR dock and that works pretty well too but haven't used it a ton yet.
Over rated and not worth it! Sucks in a word. All the features I wanted it for cost extra and you have to hook it up to a computer to get it to update.
Okay but I prefer my iPad They gave these out in first class on my flight on American airlines Boston to san Francisco. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to turn the thing on and to operate the touchscreen it's pressure based unlike the iPad. Overall the thing was a pain to use pretty unintuitive and I turned it off after about 10 minutes and went back to my iPad.
Excellent all round media experience. This machine is a fantastic timeshifter DVR I can take my essential TV viewing or favourite Divx and Xvid videos to work with me watch programmes and movies on my 50 minute commute to work and again at break times. I am so up to stream on my favourite TV programmes as a consequence of the Archos.I also do a lot of photography and it is great to use as backup the Wifi is powerful enough to upload to your favourite website. Ideally it would support viewing of the RAW image format but if you shoot as I do with JPEG simultaneously selected the JPEG's effectively act as thumbnails which the ARCHOS cannot generate from the RAW format.MP3 and WMA format music are supported plus AAC anc AC3. The onboard speakers are a tad tinny but effective. An equaliser exists to make optimum use of the sound. On a plane and in a car use of headphones with gel attachments allows you to push the sound deep into your ears thus excluding any engine hum or annoying announcements.Recording from TV and playing back video/music could not be simpler if you take the dockingstation accessory. The DVR portion of the 704 records direct to Divx 4.0 format. The filesizes it produces are approximately twice the size of Xvid so I reprocess afterwards to get more onto my 80Gb but in general no postprocessing required. However as it compresses video to Divx onthefly it is the fastest and most direct method of making small and manageable highquality digital .AVI files. This is what makes it so compelling in keeping yourself current with your TV viewing as I often leave it on overnight it has its own infrared SatelliteBox channel changer so you can record any programme from any channel on your digibox directly into the ARCHOS.
Archos 704 pretty picture but . . . Pretty picture and a smooth Video Player but .. it's still a brick weight of a Portable Media Player.Archos 704 color screen is absolutely gorgeous vivid color in all angle of views. Its touchscreen technology is flawless for a handheld with 7 color screen. Interface takes some practice but as is with anything else different. The truly shining feature has to be gettingtheDVDintothe Archos 704. Simple and quick for you to get going on a train or plane or automobile. WiFi is somewhat slow but it's handy when you need to get to the email. Opera built in browser can be better a lot better. Music as smooth with MP3 but unlike iPod where Apple owns the iTune. If you're a big fan of DVDs or have long commuting this is it. It's the one.
Extremely bad tech support It a nice device but I would NOT recommend it. The construction and features are better than good and wifi is not very useful. But the horrable technical support kills this product. The screen on my device went bad displaying shallow 256 bit colors and when I contacts support they told me to ship it to France because I'm in the middleeast at my expense which I did $120 just ot have it returned back without fixing it. I didn't understand their justification they're for factory defects and replacement and mine is a problem that needs fixing! Or are they just lazy?. Their prompt return of the device unfixed without contacting me still puzzles me. All this just to tell me to contact tech support through Archos website again just to have the same response from them again. If you want ot buy one and take the risk pray it never brakes otherwise your will loose your money and get alot of headache from their bad support. And don't say it must be the French Archos are responsible for the very bad service wherever it may be.
Not for the notsotechsavvy crowd. I wanted desperately to love this device the ultracool big touch screen the external speakers and the ample 80 GB hard drive but after spending countless hours of trying to transfer music files with no success I am sending it back.Also after transferring my photo files onto this device about a third of my images would show up greenedout with just a sliver of image showing. However all the thumbnails showed up fine. That is definitely a defect in my particular device.The Opera Web Browser is sluggish and the touch screen doesn't always respond to either your finger or the stylus. When you use your finger the screen does that funny ripply effect. I imagine that after some time you could actually damage the touch screen by using your finger.The PDF instructions of this device that I downloaded onto to my regular laptop are not as clear cut as they should be.I will not say don't buy this device because I am sure that many of you can figure out how to make the best use of all the features of the Archos 704 WiFi. For those who are looking for ease of use however please give purchasing this machine a second thought.

So after waiting for a while I have to buy a replacement OEM battery. The other consideration the phone is actually a Cingular cell phone and it comes with a lot of software linked to Cingular network. The software can't be uninstalled or removed by firmware reflash. The seller should mention that fact in unit's description! After all the phone is just fine. The battery seller and firmware are real disappointments.

Used Item Shipped The sony ericsson w810i phone that was advertised says it's new but the phone I recieved via mail was used also there was some picture in the memory card of the phone. It was used and it was in an old box. I was so disappointed.The Vibecellular is good in delivery time not in the product quality. I advice you all not to buy produect from this vendor.
Overall a good quality phone I've had this phone for a couple years and overall its a pretty good phone. It feels and looks well constructed although I do not care much for the few orange color buttons and screen. The screen itself is a decent size and good quality. Sony Ericson phones are typically the best for talk and standby time and this one is no different with something like 89 hours talk time. I don't use my cell phone that often and I frequently found that when I did pull out my old nextel phone to use it was dead. This sony phone typically still has some juice left for me to make my calls.I got this phone for about $150 with a 2 year contract through AT&T.
Awesome my new favorite phone! I started with an LG VX5200 from Verizon Wireless when I had my first cell phone. After two years of using an LG cell phone I switched to using a Sony Ericsson W810i and this is definitely the best cell phone in the electronics market. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. This phone has an MP3 player which you can record music and listen to it through the portable earphones and the alarm clock function is awesome! It has a camera sound and video recording function built in.
Great phone with lots of features Every time I buy a new phone I try to find one that tops my old phone in every way. I've had this phone for over 2 years now. Has always worked reliably with good reception. The only thing that prevents it from being perfect is that it's now out of date the flash is a constant on LED that's blindingly bright in a dark place and there is no 3.5 headphone jack. I'm looking at getting the HTC Fuze now.. Heard it's better if you're a geek like me who wants something to play with but will miss the easy functionality and compact form of my trusty w810.
decent phone prepare to buy a memory card this phone is a fantastic camera a very good mp3 player and a pretty good phone. Won't work with Windows Vista This was a marvelous voice recorder until I changed from XP to Vista. The patches issued by Olympus won't work as you can read on endless webforums. So think twice before you buy it if you are a Vista user.
Almost perfect This is a great performer which I use for music rehearsals mostly. I find the quality is much better than trying to use my iPhone's voice recorder feature. Mind you this is just a little monophonic recorder. If you want to make seriousquality stereo digital audio recordings there are product out there but you are going to pay considerably more.My only beef is this You can download your recordings to your computer that's fine. BUT I really wish you could upload recorded sound TO the recorder. The only way to input sound is through a microphone.I still give it a solid 4 stars for a very good product which does what it's designed to do very well and it's lightweight and reasonably priced.

Excellent for the student I bought this recorder a couple of years ago and it has held up great!!! The PC connect allows me to download to my PC and add to my itunes to listen on my ipod. The download is so easy simply plug in using enclosed USB cable and program automatically opens then choose download option. I upload lectures to the internet using a free file storage site and share with classmatesI have gotten so many positive reviews on the quality. Some classmates who have recorders actually prefer to download mine! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it records in WAV format so I had to get free converting software to convert to MP3. I also wish that the low battery warning gave more advance notice. Another thing to keep in mind is that the software provided is easy to use but does not allow for editing of recordings which has not been a necessity of mine anyway My lectures are about an hour in length and I did miss the last 10 minutes of one lecture. I wouldn't record more than an hour at a time to make the files more manageable in size. Battery life is actually pretty good. I now change my batteries every 3 weeks and have not missed any lectures since. I leave my recorder at the front of the class near the professor and I get fantastic quality.
A great recorder. I bought this recorder a few years ago. It has been a reliable recorder. Great to have a recorder on hand. You never know when you might need it. Once I used it to record a noise my dryer was making as it never seemed to make the sound once the apartment maintenance man was around.
not user friendly I bought this a while ago and really just began to use it recently. I had to call customer service because I was unable to get the basic folder function on the recorder to work. After some trouble shooting the rep while on the phone with me was able to get the recorder to move from file to file.I tried to record today in long play mode and only got about two minutes worth. I press the folder button and it will only display folder A.There's something wrong with this. The instructions are confusing and should be more simple. Pressing the folder button does not get into any other folders.I am very unhappy with this product it doesn't work and I bought all the accessories. I will admit that using it to record a telephone conversation was handy one time.
hearing the voices This is the recorder I use for my EVP's. It captures everything and is easy to use.
Clear and concise I use the Olympus to tape a class and to tape a radio broadcast from the sound booth. In both cases this little gizmo picks up every sound in the room. On playback every word is clear and concise. I have great sound quality. I'm not a gadget person but this one is very easy to use. It's small enough to fit in any purse or pocket and it's very sturdy and resilient. In other words it was worth every dime I paid for it and then some.
Would give 5 stars if not for software trouble This recorder works well as a stand alone recorder and nothing else. You CANNOT transfer to a PC so if you're like me and have filled up your device just put it in a drawer and forget about it and buy a SONY or any other brand that knows anything about USB transfers.
Olympus VN960PC wouldn't be in school without it! Unlike a number of reviewers I have not encountered any of the issues described and I have two of these. The software and hardware work fine for me now over a couple of years on my clunky Windows XP system. After returning to school to finish a degree I saw a guy in class using a VN240PC. Bought it loved it. Later I found with multiple classes I really wanted longer recording times in higher quality. Next bought a VN960PC and at highest setting get nearly 6 hours and that covers my heavy class days.

Great sound easy to use. I am very happy with this purchase. It has great sound and the card slot ensures I have enough memory. The Dragon recognition program is o.k. and I'm hoping it will get better with time. The only thing I did not like was the case that came with the recorder. It's more of a bag really that does not fit snuggly around the recorder.
Pretty easy to use just wish it had an off switch I got this product for my mom to use in her private counseling practice to make CD's for her clients. Figuring out how to convert the file to a format that will play on a CD took a little while but once you figure out that it needs to be a .wav file it's very easy to actually convert the file and burn it to a CD. The button to navigate the menu is kind of small and not necessarily intuitive. Overall however the product has good sound and recording quality is generally easy to use and I am confident that my mom will be able to use it with ease.

Dictation is Great! It's compact has multiple features that are easy to use and it was very easy to program and setup. It works exceptionally well with my computer system. The only reason I am not giving it five stars is because I have not had an opporutunity to use it very often.

Extremely valuable product I purchased this product to support two interview assignments for graduate school. The product works extremely well since you do not have to have the microphone up to the person's mouth to hear them. I would recommend changing the sensitivity of the microphone when interviewing in a noisy environment change from H to L and that way you will not pick up the background music. I also really enjoy the ability to add a memory stick DUO which is recommended since it greatly expands the storage capability of the product.This is a little expensive but well worth the money.
A very good small recorder This digital voice recorder is very good and is easily carried because of its size. I am using it to record interviews. I put it about a yard away from the interviewee's mouth and it picks up their voices very clearly. At the same time it is a few yards away from me and pointed away from me and yet when it plays back the conversation I can still hear the questions I ask it is a little soft but still easily enough heard. Because it can store recordings in different folders I can keep my interviews separated until I can copy them onto my computer.I wish it had an on/off switch to save battery life. I wish it came with the current voice recognition software v. 9 which is supposed to be better than the one that came with the recorder v. 8. Once trained the software works well it makes some mistakes but not a lot. Because the interviews I am doing are about one hour long it is not worth it to train the software for each person's voice. So I copy the recording onto my computer and play it back from there. This allows me to listen to the interview and repeat it into the recorder.
No way to download Digital Voice Editor Software I bought the ICDMX20 a week ago. I was surprised that Sony does not provide downloads of the associated software named Digital Voice Editor. Sony Customer Service staff told me that if you lost the CD that came with the box you had to buy a new one. Only patches of the software are available to download.This immoral policy violating the norm of digital appliance industries and should not be encouraged. Sony is demoting its brand name by offering poor postsales services. Think twice before making your buying decision.

Creative Stone Plus Player Black sqeaky clean!

Great little player durable and cute I own two of these players for about 2 years. I have a 2GB and a 4GB I bought them both for about $49.99. I use it mostly to listen to audio books downloads from the library online. I like that is supports mp3 wma and m4a file formats so it can play itunes but not itunes audiobooks m4b formats. It does do audible I have tried that and it works great. Battery life is almost 10 hours on one charge and it charges quickly from my computer's usb port. I use it when walking in the shower riding my horse and at night when I go to sleep. It is verry durable I use it at the stable and it gets really dirty and has been droped while riding the horse and still works. I like the built in speaker so I never use headphones wich is nice for riding because I don't have any wires to be caught up in. In the shower I take it in with me and put it on the window sill or in the shampoo rack I use the speaker it gets damp but still works. Sometimes it does freeze up or freak out when it chokes on a certain file I have only had this happen a few times and only with files downloaded from the internet. Stop watch works voice recording works but don't expect to catch lectures from the back of the classroom. FM tuner works. It is small and light wieght so it is great for working out. The software that comes with it works but I don't use it. I use windows media player to load it or I simply drag and drop files on it. I can also use it as a mass storage device for documents and what not. And it was nice and cheap enough that I bought two in different colors. That way I have one to use while one is charging.consNo bookmarkingthere is no sleep timer although you can set it to play one trackit doesn't play video on the upside it is small and I don't have to worry about scratching the screenIt used to fast forward and rewind too slowly but there is a firmware upgrade online that fixes that problemI don't think that creative is going to make them much longer.
Decent but old This is a decent product and does what it is supposed to. You get a 2 GB nominal mp3 player with a builtin FM tuner. Works great at the gym or while running if you buy the arm band as well.Current pricing seems a little high as I have seen it at least half of it's normal retail price lately as the new models are rolling out. By the way the current list price of over $100 is way too much regular MSRP through Creative is at least 40% less.It does tend to have issues with varying the playlist when you choose shuffle and you may need to shuffle it a different number of times every time you go to use it.
Why buy an iPod Shuffle when you can get this instead for less $? I had an iPod Shuffle almost 2 years ago until it got stolen. I can't complain about that gadget but I recently bought this cute player for much less money and I'm very glad with my purchase.Where I live the Shuffle 1GB costs around US$100 not kidding and I could get this one at half the price. The zen stone does the same stuff but cheaper really. It plays around 200 songs it has the option of changing folder something Shuffle does not offer and I can hear better sound quality and a little bit louder. By the way the battery really lasts around 10 hours or more! For what I use it for listening to my music randomly at work and at home this is a great buy though you can get the new version with 2GB and fm tuner for like US$15 more I think. Highly recommended.

Great for audio books This tiny MP3 player is perfect for audio books. I get one at a time from library load it to player through computer and am good to go. It starts where left off last time and volume buttons easy to work. Battery lasts for hours and is rechargeable on my computer.Works well in car too through FM transmitter. I use Monster Radioplay FM Transmitter bought through Amazon for about $15.The FM radio works well too for strong local stations anyway.That said I find the screen hard to read in daylightand impossible in sunlight.
Good tiny MP3 player for the price! I purchased one of these last fall. Initially I wasn't using it that much because I could not figure out how to make a playlist. NOTE I was using drag/drop Windows Explorer to move the music files. A few months ago I downloaded AmoK Playlist Copy and was able to create complete playlists and easily copy the folder onto my Zen Stone.I took this on a trip to Bali and was able to recharge it in the USB jack at my seat a Singapore Airlines 777. I also purchased a Kodak 8mp digital camera which came with a USB charger. Voila that same USB charger worked with my Zen Stone. It was a very simple way to travel abroad with my favorite music incl. FM radio.I love this player for working out because it's so tiny!I gave it 4 stars because the battery life isn't so great. I don't think I get 10 hours as some other users mention. Oh well I just pop it on the USB charger.
Great for those who need a stop watch Before I purchased the zen stone plus I purchased a 2gb sansa express. Although I love my sansa express and all its features I've had it for over a year and it works perfectly sandisk has amazing support too I recently started training for a 5K and needed something with a stopwatch so I bought a zen stone plus from Amazon Warehouse Deals.Unless you need a stopwatch go and buy a sansa express. This player I think is expensive unless you can get it for $30 or less that's how much I paid. Other small players that are similarly priced at $50/$60 pack more features and are more user friendly than the zen stone plus.It's pretty intuitive to use once you get the hang of it. Creative generally has menus that are easy to maneuver but I think they slipped up with the Zen Stone Plus I've owned a Creative Zen Xtra and a Creative Vision M mp3 player both were easier to use than the zen stone plus. The Sansa Express outshines the zen stone plus in this regard. please refer to other reviews for the specifics as to why I didn't think it necessary to repeat it hereIt also feels sturdy and it has served its purpose for what I need it for which is a watch/stopwatch/mp3 player for walking/jogging. Nice features but slow fastforwarding a headache I bought this specifically to download library books they won't work on my iPod. It's a nice little unit with some fun features. I listened to my book on my last long drive and it worked well I considered it to be worth the money.However since I got back I have accidentally lost my place in the book several times and it gets worse each time. Maybe I'm missing something but the book is one large file so I can't find any way to get back to where I was without simply holding the fastforward button down. It really doesn't go that fast at all so I literally have to hold it down for more than half an hour to get 8 hours into the book where I was. Currently it's sitting next to me clamped into an adjustable wrench so that I don't have to physically hold it myself.
